Knotted Necklaces

Well, I still don't have a good camera or anyone to take pictures of me, but here's the best I could do on my own. I was super happy with this outfit and it made me feel beautiful and chic and confident all day. I'm wearing a black shirt/dress/tunic from Target, a black sweater handed down from a friend, a black belt that actually came from a thrifted dress I got in London, red skinny jeans from Taiwan (the brand is SmileFace, haha), vintage black boots, and a hand-me-down necklace in which I tied a bowline-on-a-bight. Also, I drew on myself with Sharpies for the first time in ages!

Concepts

Well, I'm back at college, but I no longer have a good camera nor a sister to take pictures of me every day, so until I find somebody to do that, I'll work on posting about other stuff. I occasionally use Polyvore to put outfits together, and this is my latest.

Also, I've been continuing to style my hair up even though it's getting longer, so I've been rocking crazy big hair lately. I'll try to post pictures eventually.

New Jeans

New almost tie-dye jeans! I got them at the Goodwill, but they're originally from Target. Black shirt also from Target, super cozy brown vest (hand-me-down from Rose), smartwool socks, brown pumps (thrifted), and bone earrings from South Africa.

Hipster Asymmetry

April is wearing her black cardigan, a red sweater (hand-me-down) that she... customized, black skinny jeans, and her red converse. I think someday everyone will be wearing these sweaters and then she can be super cool and hipster and say, "I was wearing those before they were cool." But maybe we won't even be using the word "cool" anymore. Who knows?

Hollywood/Valley Girl

So, I got these sunglasses for fifty cents the other day and they make me feel full of Hollywood glamour, so that's what this outfit was about. I'm also wearing my vintage leather coat (thrifted), a purple cami (Target?), jeans (Goodwill), and shoes from Ross that are never actually pictured.

The following shots are a series of candid pictures taken by my best friend while I was giving an eloquent valley girl monologue.

I should probably never be a Hollywood star...

To the Museum

Today I went to the Portland Art Museum with a friend. I love art, especially modern and post-modern art, and while I got to see a lot of it when I lived in London for a few months last year, there has been a distinct lack of it in my life lately. So that was really cool. And then I went to the dentist and got fillings. Meh. But at least I looked good the whole time. On to my outfit. I am wearing skinny jeans from Ross (I love these jeans so much), my favourite boots (thrifted), a new hand-me-down shirt originally from Forever 21, an extremely cozy sweater/vest (also hand-me-down but the tag says Kaisely), and earrings I made myself. Oh, and a new-to-me belt that I am quickly falling in love with.

I also finished reading Breakfast at Tiffany's at my favourite coffee shop today. I had never read it before and really loved it. I can definitely identify with "the mean reds," but lately I'm keeping those at bay pretty decently. Cheers!

An Art Deco Fairy and Co.

Well, April and I just got some new-to-us clothes from a good friend of mine, so we decided to try to play dress-up. April is wearing (as far as I know) a teal shirt and a purple shirt from some store, a skirt cut off of a dress from the 1980s, tights from Primark in London, thrifted shoes, a handmade headband, and vintage clip-on earrings. And a necklace, also from our friend, so I don't know where it's from originally. The skirt is the other thing from her. We decided that April is a bit of an art deco fairy here or something because of the silver eyeliner.

I am wearing a black dress (Romeo and Juliet Couture), from my friend, a beaded sweater (Forever 21), also from my friend, skinny jeans that belong to my other sister, fantastic red shoes from my friend, and thrifted clip-on fan earrings, which I haven't worn in ages but I love.

See, aren't they gorgeous?

The dress has pockets. :)

And the shoes... I've been wanting red heels for ages and ages.

Sun in the Midst of Oregon Winter

Sorry the pictures are so out of order! The rest of my outfit pictures are after April's pictures.

April is wearing a pair of my old boots (I'm trying to remember where I got them and I'm really not sure...), Smartwool socks, black tights, black cardigan, a scarf from a Saturday market in Switzerland turned into a shirt, and a hand-me-down skirt.

These are jeans I got as a Christmas present this year and they're fantastic. Here are close-ups of a couple of the patches on them.

The rest of my outfit consists of a brown shirt from Target, my blue jacket from the Goodwill, my orange scarf from Greece, an artificial rose in my hair, my new jeans, and thrifted vintage pumps. Yay!

New Year's Eve

April's channeling her inner Seattle grunge band member with plaid flannel.

Joia's wearing a black blouse from Ross I think, hand-me-down teal turtleneck, earrings from Target, skirt (one of my favourites!) from either Macy's or Meier & Frank, black Wal-mart leggings, Smart-wool socks (again) and hand-me-down vintage boots.
