Bridesmaid Concept

Creepy Mood Inspiration Post

Also on choir tour, we stayed at various people's homes every night, and this was one of the rooms I stayed in. And as we pulled into the driveway, our host mom asked my room-mates and I if we were ever afraid we would have a bad homestay. And then we saw this room and started feeling mildly creeped out. It was just such a shrine to childhood and was mildly reminiscent of Edward Scissorhands.

The wilted flowers and Jesus figurine just made it feel weirder.
And I found this picture, which I think is of her four kids, now grown up (although never mentioned past their teenage years), but none of them look happy in it at all.

Of course, nothing bad happened and it was really a lovely family, but the whole room just felt so strange, but definitely a style inspiration. I still need to figure out how to work it into an outfit though.

A Touch of the Historic

I was recently in Florida on choir tour and actually went to a mall with friends, which I've only done once before in my life. I know, I was not a normal teenage girl. But I was in Charlotte Russe (which I have also never been to before) and found this beautiful top. I love the feminine and antique quality of it. It's very much like a nineteenth century corset or corset cover in shirt form. I can't wait to wear it in the summer with this one swooshy skirt I have. I apologize for the awkward pictures of just my torso. I have no photographer and my mirror doesn't work well for taking pictures of myself in it. The necklace was a hand-me-down from my grandmother I think. I really need to find a good picture or something to put in it. I'll try to post again soon!

And finally....

I'm finally putting up some pictures of one of April's outfits that she sent me. My sister has some serious style.
Here's a vest close-up. We've had this vest in the dress-up bin for ages, and it's great to see it finally being worn in real life.
Clip-on earrings from my rather massive collection.
And handwarmers that I'm guessing my other sister knit herself.
April and I will try to be better about getting more of her outfits up here. Cheers!

Spontaneous Creativity and Ranting

I spontaneously embroidered this on my friend Dakota's jeans this evening, while he was wearing them. Below is a picture taken a couple weeks ago when I was feeling super awesome. And my hair was crazy that day, which I loved.

Lately, I've been hearing a lot of gossip going on, and I really hate it. I especially hate it when people come to the conclusion that someone is doing something "just for attention" and then they write that person off for it. If someone is doing something for attention, whether consciously or sub-consciously, it's often because they need help and attention. Ignoring them will only make matters worse. This has just been frustrating me lately and I needed to get it out there. I also think that we each have so many issues of our own that we can hardly make that judgment about other people. And if someone is doing something for attention, they still need love, maybe even more so than ordinarily.

Okay, I'm done now.

Go live and love and create beauty in the world. It needs it.

My New Favourite Colour Combination

Aqua and red are my favourite colours together right now. It's such a fresh combination. I just got this dress and coat at a Salvation Army sale yesterday, and I love them muchly. Sometimes I try not to match so much, but I do it almost compulsively. For instance, my scarf is exactly the same colour as the drawing on my arm (not pictured) and my eyeliner (except you can't really see that either), and I wore red earrings to match the red in the skirt. And the off-white in my skirt is the same off-white as that in my coat. I win at matching!

I love the black trim on this coat too. And it has a miniature pocket flap on one side above the regular pocket.
Dress-Salvation Army, coat-Salvation Army, scarf-a stand in London, black boots-handed down from my aunt, earrings-made by me, sweater-Forever 21.

That's it for now!

More Ethereal Art Deco-ness

I am so in love with this outfit. It reminds me of this book just a little bit, which, by the way, is a fantastic retelling of Cinderella. http://www.amazon.com/Cinderella-Art-Deco-Love-Story/dp/0810941686 Anyways, here are a few more pictures to make up for the kind of blah ones I posted before.
I promise I was not intoxicated during this despite appearances.
Even though I was not aware that this picture was being taken and I think I was adjusting my dress, I really love it. I just love the naivete or something that my obliviousness to the camera projects and my feet are unconsciously very slightly pigeon-toed, and I just see this very different character in the picture that's definitely not really me anymore.

Closer shot of the skirt and shoes. I loved those shoes.

And... from the back.

In non-clothing news, I am mostly enjoying this semester so far. I've been surviving by wearing interesting outfits and reading young adult novels. It's really not a bad life. I do have some pictures from the other contributor to this blog that I need to get around to posting. Sorry, April! Now that I'm at college and April is still at home, daily outfit pictures are way way more difficult. And sadly, we still don't have any official followers. So if you've been visiting my blog, please follow me so that I know someone is reading this thing!
Cheers!

Art Deco Pirate?

These are not the greatest pictures, for which I apologize. There may be better ones to come. We'll see. Anyways, I played dress-up with a friend last night before going to a classical guitar concert together and I ended up wearing her clothing and she wore mine. So I have no idea where the dress, jacket, or shoes came from, but they are all amazing. I just loved the combination of this really military/piratey jacket paired with a super ethereal art deco-esque dress and then heels that look a little more '40s inspired, I think.

I definitely have more curves than would have been stylish in the 1920s though. Ah well, the trials of being a woman.
C'est tout pour maintenant! Au revoir!

Knotted Necklaces

Well, I still don't have a good camera or anyone to take pictures of me, but here's the best I could do on my own. I was super happy with this outfit and it made me feel beautiful and chic and confident all day. I'm wearing a black shirt/dress/tunic from Target, a black sweater handed down from a friend, a black belt that actually came from a thrifted dress I got in London, red skinny jeans from Taiwan (the brand is SmileFace, haha), vintage black boots, and a hand-me-down necklace in which I tied a bowline-on-a-bight. Also, I drew on myself with Sharpies for the first time in ages!

Concepts

Well, I'm back at college, but I no longer have a good camera nor a sister to take pictures of me every day, so until I find somebody to do that, I'll work on posting about other stuff. I occasionally use Polyvore to put outfits together, and this is my latest.

Also, I've been continuing to style my hair up even though it's getting longer, so I've been rocking crazy big hair lately. I'll try to post pictures eventually.
